1. Vysoké Tatry/High Tatra Mountains, central part, Velická dolina valley (granite bedrock)
Excursion route: Štrbské Pleso, the hotel Patria, towards to Velická dolina valley, the hotel Sliezsky dom (transfer by bus) – Velická dolina valley, the hotel Sliezsky dom (1670 m a.s.l.) – Velické pleso mountain glacial lake (1663 m a.s.l.) – Velický vodopád waterfall (1700 m a.s.l.) – Kvetnicové pleso mountain glacial lake (recently silted) (1820 m a.s.l.) – Kvetnica valley – Dlhé pleso mountain glacial lake (1945 m a.s.l.) – back to the hotel Sliezsky dom (green-marked touristic path). View to the Mt. Gerlachovský štít (2655 m a.s.l.), the highest peak of the Carpathians/Western Carpathians.
Habitats: subalpine dwarf-pine bushes with Pinus mugo, hygrophilous tall herb fringe communities, siliceous alpine rocky communities and alpine grasslands.

2. Vysoké Tatry/High Tatra Mountains, eastern part (Belianske Tatry Mts) (mostly limestone bedrock)
Excursion route: Štrbské Pleso, the hotel Patria, towards to Ždiar, the hotel Magura (transfer by bus) – Monkova dolina valley, the hotel Magura (900 m a.s.l.) – Monkova dolina valley – the Široké sedlo saddle (1826 m a.s.l.) – the Kopské sedlo saddle (1750 m a.s.l.) (green-marked touristic path) – Zadné Meďodoly valley – Pod Muráňom, mountain grassland, forester ´s hause (1083 m a.s.l.) (blue-marked touristic path).
Habitats: mountain spruce forests, subalpine dwarf-pine bushes with Pinus mugo and subalpine deciduous shrubs with Salix silesiaca, subalpine tall herb communities, calcareous alpine rocky communities and alpine grasslands.
Price per excursion is 20 EUR/per person (the price includes bus transfer and snack)
Both excursions start at 9am from Hotel Patria.

Half day trip to Popradske Pleso
Strbske Pleso – Popradske Pleso – Symbolic Cemetery

This easy hiking starts at the glacial lake Strbske Pleso (200 m of the Hotel Patria) and takes you across the forest to the other glacial lake Popradske Pleso. On the way you will pass Mt. Trigan (1.481 m altitude). After about 1/2 hour walk the woodlands will clear and you will finish off walking in an open area with views of the mountains. A footpath to Popradske Pleso is part of the so called “Tatry Magistral” and education trail. At Popradske Pleso is a chalet where you can stop for a drink and food. From the chalet is possible to walk around the lake Popradske Pleso with Mt. Ostrva (1984 m) above you. The path will take you to the Symbolic cemetery full of beautifully carved crosses and gravestones that are as bright as the lives of those who died in the mountains. After walking around the lake you can take the path down to train stop Popradske pleso. Just before reaching the stop turn right and follow the path back to Strbske Pleso.
